12 College Comedy TV Shows You Need to Watch

College shows can be so fun to watch! They are such a nice change from shows about high school, since they’re more about young people becoming adults and finding themselves as they spend their first years away from their parents. And if you went to college, you are almost guaranteed to have flashbacks to your own memories when you watch them.

These shows are all comedies; some of them are family friendly sitcoms and some are a bit raunchy, but they are all worthy of watching if you want a comedic take on life at college.

The Sex Lives of College Girls on HBO Max

1. Community

This classic sitcom stars Joel McHale and follows a group of misfit community college students led by a recently suspended lawyer.

2. The Sex Lives of College Girls

The Sex Lives of College Girls is a hilarious new show created by comedy maven Mindy Kaling. It’s about a group of eccentric girls starting their freshman year at a prestigious college.

3. A Different World

Arguably one of the most underrated sitcoms of all time, this Cosby Show spinoff follows Denise Huxtable and her friends at a predominantly black college.

4. Saved By The Bell: The College Years

The one season spin-off of the original show follows Zack, Slater, Screech, and Kelly in their freshmen year at California University.

5. Grown-ish

A spin-off of the hit ABC sitcom Black-ish, this show centers on Zoey Johnson as she navigates adulthood at a university with her group of friends.

6. The Parkers

Countess Vaughn and Mo’Nique star in this sitcom about a young woman who is mortified when her mom decides to go back to school at the same junior college she attends. The Parkers is yet another spin-off on this list, this time coming from the hit UPN show Moesha.

7. Greek

Freshman Rusty Cartwright arrives at Cyprus Rhodes University in search of a fresh start from his geeky high school reputation, and decides to rush a fraternity.

8. Undeclared

Undeclared follows an eclectic group of six college freshmen at the fictional University of North Eastern California. Created by Judd Apatow, the sitcom focuses on the trials and tribulations of college life. This show was actually really good and ended way too soon when it was canceled after only one season.

9. Dear White People

Based on the 2014 movie of the same name, this satirical comedy follows a group of students of color at a predominantly white Ivy League college as they are faced with cultural bias, social injustice, and misguided activism.

10. Blue Mountain State

Centers on a group of three incoming freshmen attending Midwestern college football powerhouse Blue Mountain State, who must quickly adapt to college life and juggle football, girls, classes and nonstop hazing.

11. Boy Meets World

This classic sitcom follows the lovable Corey Matthews along with his friends and family as he grows up and attends school over the years. This show is one of my personal favorites and the college years are a lot of fun to watch.

12. Gilmore Girls

Gilmore Girls is a dramedy centering on the relationship between a single mother and her daughter living in Stars Hollow, Connecticut.
