So this week I made a very poor attempt at decorating cookies for the first time ever. 😆That’s right, I’ve (obviously) never cut out or decorated cookies before. My cookie experience goes about as far as buying the Pillsbury package of chocolate chip cookies, placing the little cubes on a baking sheet, and putting them in the oven.
It’s not that I’m a bad cook — I actually love to cook and I’d like to think I’m pretty decent at it (well, following a recipe at least). But baking isn’t something I have any experience with at all. My parents didn’t really bake in my household growing up (although they are amazing cooks) and these days I try to stay away from cookies and candy as much as possible. So we don’t usually even have any in the house.
But I wanted to try something new so I had the idea to make some sugar cookies inspired by Captain Marvel! I’m super excited for this movie.
How to make them
To make the cookies, I used Pillsbury sugar cookie dough so I could focus on the decorating. Next time I really wanna try this recipe, though!
Next I used this cookie cutter from GeekerGadgets on Etsy to get the Captain Marvel logo design on the cookie.
Then I used these edible markers to color the design. They worked okay, but the color faded pretty quickly. Next time I’ll definitely try to use fondant or regular icing instead.
I posted this picture to Instagram and so many of you were sweet enough to tell me they look good! This was way out of range for me so thanks so much for the encouragement!
If you like this, then stay tuned! My next attempt will be a milkshake. 😊
