Unsplash – Unsplash is my favorite free stock photo site! What started out as a Tumblr site with a few photos uploaded each week has turned into a full resource with curated collections and user-uploaded stock photos. I highly recommend this site if you’re looking for abstract or minimal photos.
Death to the Stock Photo – Sign up to have amazing stock photos sent to your email regularly or you can upgrade to premium and access all of their photos. Their collection is very well-crafted and curated by wonderful artists.
KaboomPics – KaboomPics is probably the most useful and design-focused on the list. They have trendy styled stock photos and mockups but they also offer a matching color palette, matching photo sets, a cool feature where you can download photos at a desired width for each photo. So helpful!
Gratisography – If you’re looking for more distinctive stock photos (some are pretty weird), this is definitely the place to go. These photos are unconventional for the most part but you will definitely stand out from the crowd if you use them!
I’m listing these sites together because they are all similar and honestly I tend to get them mixed up. But they are all great resources as well:
CreateHerStock – CreateHerStock is a great free resource for images by and featuring women of color. Simply sign up for their email list to get free photos in your inbox regularly, or you can purchase a subscription to get access to full collections.
All The Free Stock – And if for some reason all of the above sites aren’t enough, there is an entire portal for free stock photos. It pretty much lists every major stock photo site in the world. Have at it.
Creative Market – In my opinion, Creative Market is the best paid resource for stock photos! There are photos available at every price point and style. You can even get free photos sometimes as part of the free goods of the week. I have several favorite shops and photographers here, including:
- Mandy Ferrugia
- Bloom and Flourish
- Kory Woodard
- Twigy Posts
- Justyna Ka Photography
- Rosemary Watson
Bloguettes – Bloguettes is a really awesome resource for modern lifestyle stock photos. There have a lovely, inclusive collection featuring people (mostly women) working, dining, entertaining, reading, working out, etc. They also have traditional styled stock photos. Best of all, their prices are very good for premium photos, at only $10 each.
SC Stock Shop – SC Stock Shop is one of the best resources for styled stock photos. It’s a little pricey (typically $59 per photo) but they are great quality and totally worth the investment if you’re using them to make your biz or blog look more clean and professional.
Stocksy – Stocksy is another resource that is a little pricey but worth it if you want unique and artistic photos. It’s another site that allows artists to sell their own photos, so there are so many amazing photos to choose from.
Haute Stock – This is another styled stock photo resource with beautiful matching collections including lifestyle photos, social media quotes, and blog graphics. With HauteStock you pay a quarterly or annual fee and get full access, which is much more cost effective if you need lots of photos.
Where do you get your stock photos?
